We wanted to phase out RapidShare a couple of months ago when RS changed their policy. But due to the requests of numerous users, we decided to continue uploading to Rapidshare.

But right now, we’ve decided to phase out RS again for a couple of reasons. Firstly, RS has a storage limit of 10000 files. We’re near that limit and have no intention of setting up another account. Secondly, as many of you may know, RS has stopped giving out points for months and our account is expiring soon. Lastly, and most importantly, we’ve seen a significant drop of users downloading from RS.

All future new series added on JDramaZone will not have RapidShare links

In replacement of RapidShare, we will be introducing FileServe. FileServe is getting extremely popular in recent months as many uploaders all over the world started uploading to FileServe ever since RapidShare disappointed everyone with their new policy.

We strongly advise all current RapidShare users to switch their premium accounts to either MegaUpload, Hotfile or FileServe

All current RapidShare links will remain but we will not reupload them in the event of any deletion by RapidShare. Any dead RS links will be removed.

This decision is final and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.

JDramaZone Donation Drive 2010

I’ve been getting the same question from a lot of people recently. People have been asking why can’t JDramaZone make enough to fully fund itself every month despite having more than 200,000 views a month.

The thing is, RapidShare no longer gives out points, Megaupload only give a point for downloads below 100MB in size while all our files are hosted in 200MB parts and our earnings in hotfile is painfully slow due to the low number of users using hotfile. As for the ads we added a couple of weeks ago, we’re getting less than 20cents a day, which clearly isn’t an option to fund the site.

The monthly operation cost of running this site is around $70USD a month, $40USD if we hit enough points to exchange for free premium accounts on that month, which happens around once every 2 months. And this is excluding our domain cost once a year.

And we know that the server is getting painfully slow as the number of visitors grew. But we just do not have the means to upgrade to a Virtual Dedicated Server which costs at least $40USD a month. We do not have a stable income from the site nor any sponsors to fund such an upgrade. So we shall keep this idea off for awhile.

As for this Donation Drive, our only goal is to keep the site funded for at least the next 3 months which will be around $200USD. I am not keeping my hopes high, but any amount received will help us greatly.

If you wanna support us with a donation, please click on the button below. Any amount is greatly appreciated.

All donations will be used to pay for the operation cost and JDramaZone will continue to be a non-profit site.

We will be updating this post with every donation we receive to let everyone know the progress of the donation drive.

Thank you for reading and any donations made. Enjoy your JDramas.

A Message to Fansubbers

JDramaZone has been growing rapidly recently, making it well known through word of mouth in the fansubbing world.

As with many sites like us, some people chose to attack us for what we are doing, calling us thieves for stealing their work. But this is what I have to say to them.

Some fansub groups claims that sites like ours steal their work and make money from them when in the first place, the JDramas belongs to neither one of us. They should stop deceiving themselves and learn to see things from our point of view.

Why did I start JDramaZone? I am an avid JDrama fan for over a decade. And I would love to share my interests to many around the world. But sadly, most fansubs are only sharing their work on bittorrent and megaupload. Not everyone are able to have access to these sources and I created JDramaZone to supply the community with alternative links.

They like to claim that we are making money by uploading their work. But in fact, we are losing money every month from doing what we do. Each file hosting account cost approximately $10USD per month and we are having 3. There’s also a RapidLeech server that costs around $20USD a month for rapid uploading to various hosts. That’s $50USD a month excluding our webhosting and domain costs. The donations we are receiving amounts to less than $15USD a month with some months when there’s no donations at all. So tell me, how in the world are we earning anything? As a matter of fact, I believe the fansubbing groups are getting much more donations than us and I am not complaining because they deserves it.

Moreover, even though we did not credit the fansubbers in every posts, we do not remove any existing credits in their subs. We upload episodes as a whole if the hardsubbed version is available and we hardcode softsubs without editing anything.

In my honest opinion, whatever JDramaZone is doing, it’s the same as all the fansubbers and that is to bring JDramas to a widen audience all over the world. The fansubbing groups are working hard to sub the dramas while sites like ours invested monetarily to bring them to even more people. None of us are doing it for fame or wealth, we are doing it for the fans. I strongly believe Fansubbers and Uploaders should work hand in hand for the greater good of the fans.

And to those fans who chose to report our sites and condemn us in the fansubbers’ forums, remember this. Not everyone is as lucky as you. There are many people in this world who are unable to access Megaupload and Bittorrent and their only source for JDramas is on RapidShare. Imagine what you would do if your country decides to block access to both of those, where will you get your JDramas fixes without a site like ours.

Fansub groups subs JDramas for you in English.
JDramaZone brings them to you on your favourite hosting sites.

Hey guys, xidron here. As you might have already noticed, we’ve put up a new theme. The current header is just a place holder. If you would like to contribute to the new design, you are more than welcome to create a header for us. The dimensions need to be 940×128 and JDrama Zone needs to be somewhere visible in the header image.

I’m still working on the back-end so it’s easier to post new drama episodes.

Ok this is all I have for now. I’ll keep you guys updated. Continue reading
