Synopsis
The tale of Tiger & Dragon revolves around Rakugo, a traditional form of Japanese comedy that can look back on an impressive 400 year long history. Nagase portrays the Yakuza follower Toraji who goes to a Rakugo performer to collect debts, while Okada plays Ryuji a talented Rakugo player who wants to leave behind the old fashioned world of Rakugo for good. Shortly afterwards these two very different characters happen to cross paths through a girl named Megumi and that’s when all the real trouble starts igniting…

I’m about to watch the final episode of this drama, it’s making me a bit sad.. :(
Now I understand why this drama had “landslide” award in the 45th TDAA in Japan.
This drama’s creativity overall was so superb you can’t actually compare it to any drama that’s shown these days.
This type of drama, as others have said, can simply be hailed as someone’s Top 3/5 J-Dramas of all time.

Not as good as IWGP, but still another great performance by Nagase!
I find JDrama’s these days all seem to follow the same specific formula. Like the production companies realized what was popular and tried to mimic it repeatedly with every show thats made. Its sad when no matter what show I watch nowadays I can pretty much guess what will happen in the next scene without needing to even see it.
For this reason, it is so nice to find a show that tries something different. Since finding this site my list of top dramas has moved around quite a bit, this drama with its quirky characters, imaginative story, and most of all its humor has placed it in my Top 3.

the drama was pretty good in its category, pretty funny at times but overall its a high standing for its type of drama
I didn’t make it farther than the 8th episode. In my opinion it was boring for the most part. I like the actors, but the story was lame. I think it was nice to try making a series about Rakugo, but somehow Rakugo is much better live (though then I have much difficulty to understand it :D). But I think it was just not my sort of humor, because it was actually quite popular.
